Summary
Text-only alternatives are somewhat unusual and should only be used as a last resort.
If it becomes necessary to provide a text-only page, then a tester should verify that the same content and meaning is conveyed to the user. Any functionality on the main page should also be equivalent and achievable on the text-only version.
