Introduction

This module will focus on the text-only equivalent of pages that are required if accessibility cannot be accomplished by other means.

The section 508 requirement covering this is: §1194.22 (k) A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a web site comply with the provisions of these standards, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. The content of the text-only page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes.

What must a text-only page contain to comply with this provision?

  • Text-only pages must contain information and functionality that are equivalent to what is displayed on the primary pages.
  • Also, the text-only page must be updated whenever the primary page changes.
